The solemn event was held as part of the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, as well as the 80th anniversary since the start of construction of Azot KAO.
The opening of the new memorial place was attended by guests of honour, management and veterans of the enterprise.
The memorial hall is dedicated to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, whose life was connected with the plant. The renovated hall presents previously unknown names of Azotov's war veterans. The employees of the Museum of History and Military Glory did a great job in returning the new names. Prior to that, only about 200 Azotov employees were known, who were previously mentioned in the museum's materials. Today the plant can be proud of 412 employees who are veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
The history of the plant is closely connected with the history of the Great Patriotic War. The chemical industry was one of the most destroyed after the war, and that is why the construction of a fertiliser plant was started in Kemerovo. For the most part, the plant was built by war veterans. These people not only built the plant and launched it under the most difficult conditions, but also laid the first traditions that are still honoured here today.
‘The opening of the renovated Hall of Military Glory is a significant event not only in the life of the plant, but also of the city, as Azot is one of the largest enterprises of the capital of Kuzbass. The museum is always people, memory about them, and people are the basis of any production’, - said Andrey Gromov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Kuzbass.
In addition, apart from the exhibition dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, the plant's museum has been updated with an exposition dedicated to nitrogen workers who participated in local wars.
The Azot KAO Hall of Fame will become one of the locations of the plant's excursions for the younger generation, as well as new employees of the plant.
