The document was signed at the St Petersburg International Gas Forum by Ammoni Director Dmitry Makarov and Gazprom Mezhregiongaz General Director Aidar Tagirov in the presence of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz General Director Sergey Gustov and Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The complex will be one of the largest in the country. It will be built according to the advanced technologies of the closed cycle of water use with the application of advanced environmental and industrial safety technologies.

Ammoni 2 will produce up to 1.2 million ammonia and 1.75 million urea annually. The main raw material for production will be natural gas, with an average annual volume of 1.4 billion cubic metres, which makes Ammoni one of the largest gas consumers in the Republic.

The contract signed today regulates the terms of gas supply for the new complex and will be the basis for future investments in the construction of the gas pipeline and the new complex.

Ammoni is a long-standing partner of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Group. For our company, reliable energy supply to industry is a strategic task, and we understand how important such complexes are for Russian regions. I am confident that the appearance of the new Ammoni 2 complex will have a favourable impact on the social and economic indicators of the Republic of Tatarstan, and we are ready to support them in this project by providing them with network gas in the required volume,’ said Sergey Gustov, General Director of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz OOO.

‘The signed documents will allow our companies to implement investment projects and develop infrastructure. Gazprom Mezhregiongaz in its turn will increase natural gas sales in Tatarstan. The republic will also get a reliable gas supply in the Zakamsky zone and the possibility of additional attraction of investors. We expect a new stage of development of industrial enterprises in Mendeleevsky and Yelabuga districts and an increase in housing commissioning,’ said Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The design of the complex has already been finalised; Dmitry Makarov, General Director of Ammoni, spoke in detail about the technologies of the future complex to Sergey Gustov, Head of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz, after the signing.

‘The gas supply agreement that we signed today, as well as the agreement signed last year, is of a long-term nature. The tentative date for the start of production is the 4th quarter of 2028. We are already talking about investments in the project of over RUB 200 billion, and it will be one of the largest urea and ammonia production complexes in the country. The appearance of such a complex in Tatarstan will significantly increase the Republic's industrial potential and strengthen the economy. This is more than 500 new jobs for residents, who will not only get a job, but also decent conditions in the form of rental housing and an extended social package,’ emphasised Dmitry Makarov, General Director of Ammoni AO.

In parallel with the work on the complex, today they are designing rental housing for future employees of the complex. The start of construction of Ammoni 2 is planned for 2025. The emergence of such production will help not only to strengthen the industrial potential of the republic and the country, but also to improve socio-economic indicators.
