The President of Russia awarded the title Honoured Chemist of the Russian Federation to Lyudmila Simakova, a compressor operator at the urea shop Azot KAO Ludmila Simakova.
A ceremony of awarding the highest state awards of the Russian Federation was held in the Kremlin's Catherine Hall. Among more than thirty recipients of orders, medals and honourable titles was an employee of Azot KAO.
Lyudmila Nikolaevna Simakova has been working at Azot KAO for more than 50 years, since 1972. She started her career as an apparatus operator of waste heat recovery boilers in the gas generator shop. For more than 38 years she worked as a compressor unit operator in the urea shop. This division produces a highly efficient mineral fertiliser. Azot KAO annually covers the urea demand of Kuzbass agriculture. In 2022, the shop produced 612,384 tonnes of urea per year - a record output in the shop's history.
Lyudmila Nikolayevna was directly involved in many of the shop's projects. For example, in 2009, she was involved in the development of a new automated process control system installed at the steam boiler plant. She studied the subtleties of the process, selected optimal conditions and trained the operators in the correct methods of work. In 2018, she participated in the modernisation of the process equipment to replace the FTG 501 A turbo pump with an electrically driven pump and put it into operation. Installation of modern equipment allowed to increase the reliability of this unit and reduce the consumption of 40 atm steam in the amount of up to 5 tonnes per hour, and save up to 3 million rubles/year.
For example, in 2009, when mastering the new automated process control system at the steam plant, she selected optimal process conditions and trained the operators in the correct working methods. In 2018, she participated in the modernisation of process equipment to replace the FTG 501A turbo pump with an electrically driven pump and put it into operation.
Over the years, she has accumulated unique experience and has become a highly qualified specialist who is able to quickly find the right solutions to production issues. She passes on her knowledge to young employees - 26 highly qualified workers have been trained for independent work with her participation, many of whom continue to work at the company.
