Azot KAO started implementation of the project "Reconstruction of nitric acid production units with conversion to low-temperature selective purification". The project was launched with a positive conclusion of the State Environmental Expertise of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources, Glavgosexpertiza of Russia and a construction permit from the Kemerovo City Administration.
The reconstruction of workshop No. 15 units is planned as part of a comprehensive action plan to reduce air pollutant emissions under the federal project "Clean Air" and the national project "Ecology". Implementation of the best available technologies and environmental and technological modernisation, along with other measures, will reduce the total mass of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere. Including after the project implementation in 2026, the total amount of Azot KAO emissions will decrease by 21% in relation to 2020. The reconstruction will also make it possible to eliminate carbon monoxide (CO) emissions from AK-72/1.2 units and reduce the total amount of carbon monoxide (CO) emissions at the enterprise by 57% relative to the indicators of 2020.
Within three years, the nitric acid production workshop will be partially replaced and new equipment will be installed. The project will not only reduce pollutant emissions, but also reduce the cost of nitric acid production.
Currently, orders are being placed for the manufacture of the main process equipment, selection of contractors for general construction and electrical installation works, as well as for the design and installation of a modern automatic process control system.
The reconstruction will be fully completed by the end of 2026. Investments in this project will amount to about RUB 4 billion.
