Azot KAO and the Government of Kuzbass signed a co-operation agreement at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum
Azot KAO and Ilya Seredyuk, acting governor of Kuzbass, signed an agreement on the implementation of a project to produce granulated urea and ammonia on the territory of the Kuzbass Special Economic Zone of Industrial Production Type (SEZ IPT Kuzbass).
The project is in line with the Strategy for the Development of the Chemical and Petrochemical Complex for the Period until 2030, and will help strengthen the position of Russian exports in foreign markets and increase the volume of exports of chemical products.
Investments will amount to at least RUB 200 billion. Over 600 jobs are expected to be created. The parties discussed the training of highly qualified specialists for Azot KAO's new production facilities and the region's chemical industry in general.
Ilya Seredyuk instructed Azot KAO specialists to develop a special training programme in cooperation with the region's universities and, if necessary, to equip classrooms and laboratories with equipment.
"The launch of production is scheduled for 2032, by which time it is necessary to train highly qualified specialists who will be able to work on the latest equipment. It is important to address this issue now. It is important to calculate the potential need for certain professions by year and, together with the Ministry of Science of Kuzbass, analyse whether the capacity of the chemical faculties of our universities is sufficient to train the required number of specialists or whether it is necessary to increase the number of students," Ilya Seredyuk stressed.
